To help assure a safe and healthy workplace, Optimation is educated in safe work practices and compliance with regulatory requirements including the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Process Safety Management of Highly Hazardous Chemicals standard (called Process Safety Management or PSM), Title 29 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) 1910.119. Process Safety Management is a regulation intended to protect workers and the surrounding community from an unexpected exposure to hazardous chemicals. PSM deals with the risks involved with the storage, handling, and processing of highly hazardous materials found in Appendix A of 29 CFR 1910.119.
Example Experience Providing PSM Services to Clients:
- Assisted client with major portions of PSM requirements for synthetic chemical processes.
- Conducted field verification of chemical process equipment and piping. Inspected pressure vessels and piping for Fitness-For-Service evaluations. Utilized engineering analytical and non-destructive testing procedures to determine the suitability of equipment for the current operating conditions.
- Flammable Solvent Handling, Storage, Delivery, and Safety
- Hazardous Substance & Hazardous Waste Piping Systems
- Leadership in Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs) Methodologies including What-Ifs, HAZOP
- Process Ventilation, HVAC, Air Treatment & Exhaust, Scrubbing, Abatement, VOC Destruction Skills
- Worked with Process Safety Teams for new product introductions
- Critical component in Production Department process safety reviews, operations reviews, and process improvement projects
