Our engineers are skilled in the configuration of database systems. Common implementation environments include Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft Access and Oracle. We have integrated to existing databases and created new archival database systems, as well as developed database applications for our customers. Our engineers also have applied expertise in the area of manufacturing execution systems (MES). The power of the Internet and its underlying technologies is a driving force in industry today. We are working with this technology in-house as we host and develop our own web site and intranet. Our clients have a variety of requirements that can best be met with web-based development, from remote monitoring of data to e-commerce. The ability to link to corporate enterprise systems provides the infrastructure needed to operate in today's integrated environments. Our engineers continually learn and use the latest methodologies to achieve the proper level of integration with ERP systems.
Example Database Integration Projects:
- Managed Shop Floor to Mainframe project using AB ControlLogix, VB.Net, MSSQL Server, JagBasic, RSView, RSSQL, DeviceNET, and ControlNet. Project kept existing I/O in place while replacing scales and controller. Scale was a programmed with Metler Toledo’s Jag Extreme development software. There was complete bi-directional interface to legacy upper level control system.
- Installed the iFIX SCADA system at a large municipal filtration plant. The application had about 2500 tags and several hundred screens. Existing Allen-Bradley PLC 5/40's were used for controls. Historical data was stored in MS SQL Server on a dedicated Historian PC and reports were generated in Excel.
- Developed custom software application to put real-time process information into Oracle Databases using SQL. System utilized numerous buffering techniques to alleviate data loss at any point of failure. Data was time stamped within the PLC to provide accurate time stamping with maximum resolution independent of the buffering being performed by the system.
- Designed a complete replacement system for a critical warehouse conveyor system. Wonderware InControl was implemented for the replacement system along with other custom VisualBasic and Database programs. This project won the “Kodak IT Project of the Year” at the Kodak Engineering Conference.
- Developed a precision batch weighing system for blending dielectric powders, mixing raw material with varying chemical compositions. By using chemical analysis the system can determine the make up of the raw mixtures, calculate the precise raw material weights required to meet a specified recipe, and then blend the raw material batches to produce a uniform final product composition. This project included process control and MES tracking using so production engineers have the ability to manage the process at a world class level. Wonderware InTrack provides material tracking while Wonderware IndustrialSQL Server logs real time critical production data, events and alarms. The information retrieved through the querying and reporting of the InTrack and IndustrialSQL databases allow the production managers to make highly informed decisions for each mix or lot.
